October 15, 2026
How many people in Springfield have pulled into the Adventure Road lot on a Saturday in October, looking for a festival, and found trailheads and parked bike racks? The Anne Springs Close Greenway entrance closest to Springfield is very easy to reach. Every event on the Greenway's fall 2026 calendar, though, happens at a different gate.
That split shapes the season. From Springfield Parkway you can be on singletrack in minutes for an ordinary weekday hike or ride. The Boil, Brew & 'Que, all three trail races and the holiday market are held at the Lake Haigler Entrance on Highway 21. The Halloween farm morning is at Greenway Farm & Stables on Horse Road, off Highway 160. For a Springfield household, fall at the Greenway runs on two schedules, and the more crowded one starts on the other side of the preserve.
The Greenway's own directions page describes the Adventure Road Entrance at 104 Adventure Road as 3.3 miles east of I-77 along Gold Hill Road, which becomes Springfield Parkway. The sign is on the right "across from the Springfield development." It is listed as a hiking and mountain biking entrance. The parkway has a second option too. The Blue Star Entrance at 362 Handy White Way is about 5 miles out along Springfield Parkway and also serves hiking and mountain biking.
Those two gates feed into a preserve of 2,100 acres with a 40-mile trail network. One current trail note matters most to riders coming in from this side. The Greenway's Hours & Fees page says the bike direction has changed on the Paradise and Prairie loops, while hike, bike, horse and dog park trails and the Mountain Bike Skills Park are all open. If you ride those loops from memory, check the interactive trail map before your next weekday loop.
Entrances are open daily from 7 a.m. to sunset, and trails can close on any day because of weather. With sunset arriving earlier through November, the after-work window from the Adventure Road lot gets shorter each week.
The Lake Haigler Entrance at 2573 Lake Haigler Drive sits at Highway 21 and Coltharp Road. It holds the Greenway Gateway visitor center, the Gateway Canteen, the Nature Center and Rush Pavilion. The Greenway asks visitors not to rely completely on GPS for this entrance. Its directions take you off I-77 at exit 85 onto Highway 160 toward Fort Mill, left at the Highway 21 Bypass light, then 1.5 miles to the entrance on the right.
That gate is the meeting point for almost everything dated between now and mid-December:

Tickets for the Boil, Brew & 'Que are $70 for adults 21 and older, $60 for ages 16 and up, and $25 for ages 5 to 15. VIP tickets are $125 and add a Lowcountry boil. The Fall Artisan Market on October 3 has already happened, so the Winter Holiday Market is the next market on the Gateway lawn. Its listing includes gift wrapping, firepits and Canteen service.
The calendar is centered at Lake Haigler because that is where the Greenway's amenities are. The Gateway Canteen is there, on seasonal hours. It opens Thursday through Saturday from 8:30 a.m. to 9 p.m., with the full hot menu from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday through Wednesday it closes at 5:30 p.m., with hot food until 4:30.
Those hours line up with the evening events. The Guided Night Hike on November 13 and the Night Owl Trail Race on December 11 both fall on Fridays, when the Canteen's current schedule keeps it open until 9. The Lake Haigler 12-Hour Race is different. It runs until midnight on a Saturday, three hours after the Canteen's posted closing time. The Canteen's posted menu is still labeled Spring 2026, so check the page for current dishes before you plan dinner around it.
One morning on the calendar uses a third gate. The Halloween Family Farm Day is listed at Greenway Farm & Stables, 1046 Horse Road, which the Greenway places about half a mile past The Peach Stand on Highway 160. The Crandall Bowles Children's Farm runs on its own hours, Tuesday through Sunday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., with last entry at 2:30. Admission is included with a Greenway membership or a daily admission ticket, and pets are not allowed. On October 31, the Family Farm Day: Halloween morning includes hands-on animal activities and lead-line rides for an extra fee, and daily admission applies to nonmembers ages 3 and up. The activities end at noon, and the Children's Farm stays open until 3 p.m. for self-guided tours.
The Springmaid Trail Race has run for 47 years and is held in honor of the Greenway's Mary Warner Mack Dog Park. On November 7, the half marathon starts at 8:15 a.m., the 10K at 9 a.m., and the 5K/Dog Jog at 9:30 a.m., all from the Lake Haigler Entrance. The Greenway's fee table lists the 5K/Dog Jog at $45 before race day and $50 on race day, the Hike Challenge at $32 and $37, the 10K at $55 and $60, and the half marathon at $65 and $70. Dogs are welcome on the 5K course, and the Greenway's general trail rules require them to stay leashed.
Two weeks later, the Lake Haigler 12-Hour Race asks runners to cover as much distance as they can on a singletrack 5K loop between noon and midnight. A fully stocked aid station sits at the end of each lap. Registration is listed at $85. The Night Owl Trail Race on December 11 closes out the series with a 5K or a one-mile run/walk from the Lake Haigler Entrance. Prizes go to the three best-dressed participants, and every finisher gets a finisher's prize.
The race materials name Lake Haigler as the access point and don't announce any closures at other entrances. On paper, then, the Adventure Road lot on Springfield Parkway stays a normal trail day while a few hundred runners gather on the other side of the preserve. Since the Greenway says trails can close for weather on any day, a quick status check still makes sense before you head out.
Using two entrances also changes how admission adds up. The Hours & Fees page lists daily admission at $17 per adult and $8 per youth ages 3 to 12. Children 2 and under are free, and members pay nothing for ordinary day use. The Directions & Entrances page still shows an older $14 and $7 schedule. The Hours & Fees page carries the current posted rate, and Greenway prices can change.
The membership page lists these options:
At the posted daily rates, a household of two adults and two children ages 3 to 12 pays $50 per visit. Four visits come to $200, which is more than the $180 family annual rate. For one adult, six visits at $17 come to $102, which is more than the $90 individual annual rate. A single weekday ride through the Adventure Road gate and one Saturday at the Halloween farm morning count as two separate admissions.
Membership also brings member rates on programs, guest passes and early access to some of the Greenway's most popular events. The October 25 Educational Hike shows how that works on a small scale: $16 per person, 20% off for members. Ticketed events such as the Boil, Brew & 'Que and race registrations are priced separately from admission.
The Greenway lists two closed days ahead. All entrances, facilities and trails close on Thanksgiving, November 26, and entrances close again on Christmas Day. The Adventure Road lot reopens at 7 a.m. the next morning, 3.3 miles down Springfield Parkway from I-77.
